Wonderful Edinburgh

edinburgh edinburgh3edinburgh7edinburgh6 edinburgh5edinburgh2I feel like if you follow a lot of UK blogs or Instagram accounts, you have probably already heard Edinburgh’s praises a hundred times over. But yes I’m here to once again tell you not only how it is one of the most beautiful cities in the UK but also that it is one of the most inspiring. OK so I’m gonna make a grand statement here and say that in my opinion it is the UK’s prettiest city. I mean there’s a whole host of Insta accounts dedicated to showing off just how photogenic the place is. And FYI here are a few of my faves: igersedinburgh, exploringedinburgh and travelswithmyphone. So really the final lady travels but Edinburgh features a lot in her feed.

Beautiful architecture and quaint cobbled streets aside, there is so much to see in the Scottish capital. I’m lucky to have been brought up fairly close to the Scottish Boarder so my parents were much more likely to take us on a trip to Edinburgh than London as a desperate attempt to keep us entertained in  the school holidays. But I’ve got to say I was always pretty OK with that. The city is full of history, galleries, awesome shopping and great places to eat. Not to mention the zoo! Plus it’s especially beautiful at Christmas time.

These photos were taken a few weeks ago when me and my mam took a day trip on the train. I know all the bad blogger points for me taking so long to get this post organised! I returned home feeling inspired and can’t wait for my next visit- for a bit of Christmas shopping perhaps?

Have you ever been to Edinburgh? Thoughts?

A Cretan Adventure

I know I know I’m such a bad blogger… We stayed in the North of the Island near a town called Rethymno which was a lovely historical place built along the hillsides. I mean just look at those views! I’m also so pleased that I finally managed to get some nice photos of me and James together cos we were seriously lacking anything that wasn’t a selfie.  We did actually spend a lot of our time on the sandy beaches but the idea of adding bikini photos to this post just filled me with dread!

One day in Santorini

santorini3santorini2santorini6santorini7santorini11santorini8santorini9santorini10santorini5santorini12santorini13 santorini14 santorini16Were back from our travels to the beautiful Greek Islands- sadly! As I’m really feeling the old post holiday blues this must be the best time to write all the blog posts about our time in Greece. Today’s post is Santorini- yeah I know a blog post about Santorini how cliche. But I’ve got to say the scenery really is stunning with some of the most inspiring towns I’ve visited. And so here are a few of our (ridiculously) large collection of photos from the Island… Including some particularly delicious waffles!

The Wanderlust Wishlist

If I was to take a few months away from everyday life to spend backpacking, South American would be my continent of choice. The varied vibrant culture, stunning landscapes and ancient history are all fascinating.  I’d love to spend some time in cities like Rio De Janeiro and Buenos Aires as well as see the beautiful scenery of Bolivia and Peru. Festival celebrations are supposedly epic. And then of course there’s the Amazon. Also if you wanted to volunteer as part of your trip there’s plenty of opportunity- I’d always go for the wildlife rescue!

I’m happy to be able to say that I’ll be visiting Santorini in the next few months. Although were not planning on staying on the Island (it’s pricey FYI) we will be taking a day trip. Its got to be one of the most sort after Greek holiday destinations especially for romantic getaways. When I had a look at hotels I could see why, some of them would make beautiful honeymoon stays. I hope that we get the chance to see some of the traditional Greek towns and volcanic beaches while were there.

I mean just look at these beaches! Cape Verde is made up of a group of islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast. The flight time is only around 6 hours from the UK which seems completely worth it for the perfect relaxing beach holiday. It’s supposed to be unspoilt and have a unique mix of cultures.

I’ve got to admit that I’ve never been to the USA. Like alot of people, top of my list of must see US cities is New York. I don’t think it needs much explaining! James is also really keen to go back so I’m keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that we’ll be visiting the Big Apple in the not too distant future.

Anyone who’s recently had to spend large amounts of time in my company will know that I’ve been banging on about going to Iceland for a while now. There’s just so much to see! The landscapes are so beautiful and I’d love nothing more than to catch the Northern lights. I feel like I spend my life jealous of anyone who’s just come back from Iceland….

What’s top of your dream travel destinations?
