Five Inspirational Quotes to Encourage Reading

books4 books6

books9Lately I’ve had such a desire to read more often. As a teenager I could happily spend entire days lost in a book and I feel so sad to have grown out of that habit. I think sometimes the commitments of everyday life can be sort of overwhelming and were not left with the time to read. There are so many benefits to reading more often and thousands of amazing books out there just waiting for us to pick them up. So I have decided to make a conscious effort in 2017 to make reading one of my priorities. I’ve heard whispers all over the internet of the 50 book challenge which works out as roughly 1 book per week. Although I think that may be  a little ambitious for me!

So if you’re looking for a little inspiration, I’ve scoured Google for my top five motivational quotes which should give you plenty of encouragement. Because after all who doesn’t love a good motivational quote?

A house without books is like a room without windows. – Heinrich Mann

A book, too, can be a star, a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe. – Madeleine L’Engle

We read to know we’re not alone. –William Nicholson

The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world its own shame. – Oscar Wilde

And my personal favourite…

Anyone who says they have only one life to live must not know how to read a book.  – Author Unknownbooks7

Do you like to read?  Please let me know your thoughts.

PS Yes that is a Christmas jumper I am wearing already, no I’m not even a little ashamed…
